As a Senior Strategy Consultant for Personal & Business Banking, you are leading strategy projects for senior management. You work with experts across the bank on a variety of topics, such as sustainability, growth strategy, new business opportunities, and M&A. You are always focused on getting conceptual strategies to concrete decisions and execution, because as they say: “strategy without execution is a hallucination!”.
Your job
Supporting the development and execution of the vision and strategy for ABN AMRO’s Personal & Business Banking.
- Identifying new business opportunities coming both from internal (P&L) analysis, and from external/peer assessments. Participating in benchmarking initiatives and identifying possible (growth) opportunities.
- Leading or participating in high-impact strategy projects. Working in close cooperation with the Personal & Business Banking Management Team members.
- Working on ad-hoc requests, e.g., presentations for the Executive Committee or Supervisory Board
- Translating the strategy into concrete Objectives & Key Results (OKR’s) together with the MT P&BB and monitoring progress of our strategy execution.
- Maintaining a variety of formal and informal relationship networks with stakeholders in- and outside the organization, such as Group Strategy & Innovation, Corporate Development, colleagues in Wealth and Corporate Banking or external consultants
- Coaching of other team members

The Client Unit Personal & Business Banking is responsible for three client segments: Consumer Clients, Affluent Clients and Business Clients & Ecosystems (self-employed and SME), two product units (Transaction Banking and Home Financing), Digital Customer Engagement and three enabling functions: Processes & Control, Business Implementation and Strategy Office. We serve private clients with assets up to €500,000 and business clients with a turnover of up to €25 million. Our focus is on creating the right combination between offering (digital) convenient solutions and distinctive expertise, also embedding sustainability in customer value propositions.
The Strategy Office Personal & Business Banking consists of 10 business strategy consultants. The Strategy Office supports the management team of Personal & Business Banking (P&BB) with strategic analysis and preparation of material for interaction with external stakeholders, the Executive Board and the supervisory board. This work is done in close collaboration with the Group Strategy & Innovation team as well as Finance and the segments within P&BB. Examples of recent assignments has been defining a strategy for attracting minor clients, defining the ambition in sustainability, and setting up the Objectives & Key Results for the coming years. We have a nice mix of seniority levels in the team. As a senior strategy consultant, you will have an important role in improving the way-of-working of the team, coaching more junior colleagues, and you are a thought leader on specific banking topics and sparring partner for senior management. The head of Strategy Office reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer of the client unit Personal & Business Banking.
Your profile
You are a self-starter who enjoys taking responsibility. You can lead complex strategy projects. You are a real team player that cares for others, but also dares them. You bring excellent problem solving skills to the team and enjoy developing others on these skills. Of course, you are excellent in communication, both verbally and written.
On your CV:
- Academic level
- At least 5 years of relevant strategy consultancy experience
- Great communication skills - you feel comfortable liaising with Senior Management
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong in (quantitative) analyses
- Strong organisational sensitivity
- Great coach to (junior) team members
- Experience in retail banking is a pre
- Fluent in English
We also offer
- The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
- The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
- Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
- Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
